Vet bills for loan pony outside of insurance

Would you expect to pay for vet bills for a loan pony which weren't covered by insurance? (outside of usual stuff like vaccs)

Pony had a tooth extracted a year ago which was paid for out of pocket (approx £1200) Obviously insurance has excluded it.

If it was to happen again would it be my responsibility to pay again? (eating fine and no problems ridden, just after last time I'm a bit anxious!)

Pony is now outgrown and we are partway through the notice period to return to owner

Yes. When mine was on full loan I'd expect the loaner to pay all vet bills. What does your contract say?

Do you mean loanee

Matilda1981 · 28/10/2024 21:45

Yep the loaner pays for everything relating to the loan pony!

Contract doesn't specify what happens with vet bills which are not routine costs and not covered by insurance

And what happens if we can't afford to?

If you can’t afford the bills I would suggest you talk to the owner but as you’re in your notice period anyway I’d just keep my fingers crossed it doesn’t happen again!!
