Where to buy clothing for child

My daughter is about to start lessons. Where is the best but budget friendly place to buy boots and also jodhpurs? Will she need the long boots or are short ones okay?

Do you have Decathlon or can buy it online? There is a cheap range called Fouganza that is decent quality and fine for beginners (and even intermediate). They have child sizes.

Short boots and half chaps to start with - Harry hall, decathlon, amazon all have cheaper ranges

Amazon to start with before she discovers LeMieux and Ariat🙈

Yes, get short boots and chaps.

Don't spend too much money until you're sure it's something she'll stick with is my advice! Riding gear and clothes makes great presents later on if you do want to kit her out a bit but no need to buy much for her first lessons (it's expensive enough as it is 😜)

Check with the school as they may be able to lend her boots, or she can have her first rides in any reasonably substantial shoes with a block heel (not trainers or wellies)- if you really need to buy something I'd advise getting a cheap pair of Jodhpur boots from eBay or Facebook marketplace (can often pick up outgrown bargains!), add a pair of suede half chaps later on.

For trousers again she can probably have her first lessons in something she already owns, tracksuit bottoms or leggings would be fine, if you want to buy her something kids nowadays mainly wear riding tights or leggings rather than the more traditional Jods or breeches. Again worth looking on the second hand sites as lots of bargains to be had, or decathlon are good as others have mentioned. The only thing I wouldn't get second hand is a riding hat (helmet) - but again the school should be able to lend one for her first go. She may want a body protector further down the line. It might be worth sending her in a pair of thin woolly gloves as the reins can rub their fingers and/or their hands can get cold this time of year, just a cheap pair of magic gloves is fine.

Hope she enjoys!
