What to wear - 7 year old first riding lesson

My 7 year old loves horses and we've booked her first couple of riding lessons at the end of the month. We're renting a hat from the riding school but what else do I need to think about clothing-wise? I've spotted some riding boots on Vinted, is there anything else she needs for the first lesson? Don't want to invest too much until we know the reality lives up to her expectations. Thanks in advance!

Joggers and trainers will be fine, and a warm jacket.

Warm top + coat (layers are key) and joggers/leggings with wellies or any boots with a bit of a heel that she already owns will be fine. Our riding school definitely doesn’t allow them to ride in trainers so something to be aware of

I'd give them a call- my old school used to lend out boots and gloves and would insist on you wearing both.

Gloves this time of year. Leggings would be better than joggers and definitely no to trainers. As PP said, need a heel. As she's a beginner, she won't be doing much work, so dress warmly. Hope she enjoys the ride (though prepare yourself for the £££ to come if she loves it - voice of experience 😁)

A BHS approved yard shouldn't let him ride in trainers. She needs a flat sole with a small heel. Leggings would be preferable to joggers and yes to a warm coat. You could pop thermal tights under the leggings too + thermal baselayer top.

My old stables wouldn’t allow wellies or trainers, flat with a small heel and enclosed, thick leggings will be fine, not jeans or joggers as they will rub. Gloves are a must too imo.

Sorry bad advice from me. My kids grew up riding in anything Blush I didn't consider rising school rules

A good school will not allow trainers.
Hopefully they have boots and hats (any good school would).
Id go for either joggers or thick leggings and a warm top.

Footwear ideally smooth soled with a small heal. Leggings or jogging bottoms. Definitely gloves. Warm layers and waterproof if riding outdoors and likely to rain.

Thanks everyone, happy to hear its not a whole outfit required! I've ordered some boots from vinted and will pick up some gloves from the local country store. I have a very excited 7 year old counting down the days to her first lesson!

She definitely won't be allowed to ride in trainers. She needs boots that come over her ankle and have a small heel. Leggings would be most comfortable for her but could wear joggers too. No jeans as she will likely be learning to trot by the end of her first lesson and the seam will rub her raw.

Dress in layers but nothing flappy. Gloves if it's an outdoor arena. If she keeps going then sticky seat riding tights are really good.
