it says it doubles up in the description, cobs are pretty good doers usually but if he starts losing weight, you could always put something else on overnight to keep his bum warm. When it got too cold I’d put a sweat rug underneath for an extra layer but in the olden days, used to use an old blanket

If it’s being used as a stable rug it will very soon stink of wee and be covered in poo stains 😳

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 20/10/2023 09:57

No, it’ll get wrecked

Indoorvoicesbluey · 20/10/2023 14:19

She’s fully clipped and loses weight easily so i prefer to rug her. She’s a finer type
cob.

In that case just get a standard stable rug 🤷‍♀️

JaffavsCookie · 21/10/2023 20:05

No, it will get wrecked and unlikely to be hard wearing enough as not designed for that purpose.

I've never had a stable rug that wasn't disgusting after about three uses so I'd certainly never use a nice rig for the job.

Mine have been wearing turnout rugs indoors for the last 15 years to be honest. Fleeces etc for chucking on pre/post work when standing about tied up, or as layers.

Or a nice rug. I've never met a rig tbf.

On reflection, this is wise. I do remember being a teen ponyclubber desperate for some cool kit though. Never got it…
