UK riding holiday recommendations for 13 year old

Hi. I’m looking for recommendations for a weeks residential riding holiday for my 13 year old daughter. She can walk, trot, canter and do small jumps. She has done some hacking out but mostly lessons. We are based in Scotland, central belt, so Scotland or Northern England would be ideal. Thanks 😀

The Scottish equestrian hotel in Lanark does residential breaks and might be worth a look.

I don’t think they do riding holidays per se and lord they aren’t cheap, but Glen Tanar is fabulous, some of the best hacking without leaving the country, good instruction and you can stay on site and it’s stunning

Thanks yappahha 😀

Murthwaite Green in Cumbria do riding holidays.

You can't stay on site but you can book bespoke rides and they'll help you organise accommodation.

I have lessons there and they're right on the beach and the hacks are amazing!

Are you wanting something the 13 year old can do totally unaccompanied, or will you be staying with her but not riding yourself, or riding with her? Some of these suggestions are fabulous but I'm not sure they'll take unaccompanied children...

Echoing what maxelly said - you need to be by looking for children’s riding holidays - specifically catering for unaccompanied teenagers. If you were further south, Wellington Riding’s junior camps are perfect - dd spent many happy weeks there as a pre teen/teen, but they get booked up quickly.

Equestrian Escapes offers children’s riding holidays and I think there’s a centre in Scotland. They’re a travel agent so if you checked which centre they use you could probably book directly which might be cheaper.

Bilsdale Riding Centre in North Yorkshire does unaccompanied children’s holidays. I went there for a weekend once and it was very good.

PGL have some riding holidays.

I also recommend Bilsdale Riding Centre, my DD has been a couple of times and had a blast
