I’m looking to purchase and import a horse from Ireland to the UK (England). Anyone who has recently done it able to estimate cost and also anything new to consider post-Brexit?

I feel like that MN user who responded to her own post about the pram. But since this had no responses, I thought I’d report back about the outcome.

Post-Brexit, it’s become a pain apparently and most horses are now taken up through NI and into the UK to avoid the hassle. Not as great for the horses, but hey-ho, that seems to be how things are done now. I was quoted anywhere from £525 to bring him about 2 hours from my house (I’d have had to hire a local transporter to collect him from there as they just wouldn’t come any closer) to £800. I opted for a well known transporter who would do door to door for £725.

I’ve only just seen this, Bramhams of Buckingham were who I used but that was about 4 years ago so pre all the paperwork. However they were very professional and reasonably priced and I’d happily use them again. Too late for you now, but might be useful for anyone else looking!
