Badmington - Any Tips?

Never been before but hoping to go next year Fri-Sun. Has anyone got tips on:

  1. Dressage seating - book or use free seats
  2. Best place(s) to watch the XC
  3. SJ seating - I know this has to be pre-booked but where is best.

Also I have a tall 12yr old who I don't think needs a ticket but will I need to be able to prove her age if she looks older.

Badminton is a fab event. Yes I would book tickets for the dressage if you’re actually interested in watching more than a few tests. The demos in the breaks are also usually very good.

XC day - best place to view by far is at home on tv/horse&country/whoever is showing! Seriously though, the most popular fences (water!) get very crowded very early. If you want to have a good spot at a particular fence be prepared to get there some time before xc starts. I am no good at sitting still so mostly just wander and see things from a distance - the big screens in the food village are good for viewing too.

I’ve never been SJ day.

Saturday plan to sit in traffic for a loooong time!

Once in, have lots of money to spend!

Enjoy!

SJ not to close to the front

Saturday I walk the course but go backwards so start at the last fences rather than the first.
Take a fortune in cash with you too…

I’m going too !!
We only go on xc day and spend time at each fence and finish off in the main are an watching the first and last fence. It’s also handy for food and drinks outlets and nice to sit on a proper seat and it’s mostly empty. They won’t let dogs in that bit though in case you’re taking any.

I never go on XC day anymore it's too busy, you can't get a good view anywhere.

Best bet is to go Wednesday (grass roots), Thursday or Friday. Traffic is better and you can get round shops and buy food easily. Wednesday evening is the trot up so you can see the pro's up close.

Walk the course and take pictures next to the jumps as when you watch it on TV they won't look as big!
