We have our first horse show on Sunday with both my daughters competing! Any tips on what to take that aren’t obvious and what you could have do with spares of please? I think I’m prepped but have a feeling I won’t be on the day!

If it’s on grass do you know what the ground is like? Will you need studs for example? Remember all your tack, hay nets, etc, some horses don’t drink well at shows so I usually take some apple juice to tempt them, especially in this heat.
If it’s XC etc I’d take electrolytes too.
Sun cream for humans.

Thank you. It is grass but just a local village show and we’re just going with the aim to have fun and survive ..which is my long way of saying we haven’t god studs! Good call on apples though and sun cream!

Out I’d curiosity, do you put the apple juice in water, or give it to them ‘neat,?

Good luck to your DDs, OP.

Depends on the horse. Really bad drinkers I’ll give it neat but usually a generous few glugs in a bucket has been enough.

If all else fails the racing crowd will wring wet sponges into their mouths but I’ve yet for it to come to that.

Babywipes, more drinks than you think you need, write a thorough list of everything you need, and then check that you've packed it. We've all borrowed or lent hats, clothes, bits of bridle, girths and numnahs. Take spares if you have the space.

Keep calm, have fun, it's only a couple of circles and/or a few jumps, and they've done it all before.

Thank you everyone! All tips have been followed. Fingers crossed we have a fun day 🙌🏼

Hand gel. The loos are probably portaloos

Wallywobbles · 06/06/2021 05:51

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who posted. We had a great day, took everything we needed (and lots we didn’t) and won a few rosettes. All round great day and can see that this can become quite addictive🙈

countrygirl99 · 08/06/2021 11:36

Well done and yes, very addictive. Now you need to work out how to display all the rosettes 😁

Deliaskis · 10/06/2021 09:28

OMG @Wallywobbles I am completely stealing that list!
