Mud

My horses are out 24/7 and their field is really wet. I won't have any stables for two weeks but someone locally has complained about them.

They're fed, watered and checked twice a day, it's wet but not knee deep bog and there's a dry patch they sleep/chill out on.

I just feel terrible. I've felt terrible most of the winter but I don't have an alternative. Both horses are healthy and hardy.

I can't cope with this on top of lockdown, I really feel like giving up on everything, I just want to cry and sleep. I know it's nothing personal and whilst not ideal both horses are fine and cared for but it's just so much.

Just looking to have a bit of a vent, followed later on tonight by a cry into their manes.

Sympathy OP my really tough mare who’s never had a day lame, sick or sorry is so sore with mud fever Sad

I just feel so judged.

Possibly judged by the same people who complained my laminitic didn't have enough grass.

Or that my pony had no water. Because the trough was green and blended into the hedge.

Two weeks and counting until stables and I can throw my worries on the muck heap. If schools go back too I will cry with happiness.

Try not to worry...they’re horses and can cope with a bit of mud! It sounds like you are caring and looking after them as well as possible. They’re prob having a horsey time...outside, well fed and with friends

Agree try not to worry. It will be someone who doesn’t really understand horses. The chances are your horses are happier than some with the opposite problem of no turnout at all.

Are the people who commented going to offer you grazing or stabling for the next two weeks?

If not, they can keep out of it!

How are you doing op, I hope things have improved for you?
