Where to buy a horse trailer?

I'm a non-horsey person looking to buy a second hand horse trailer for conversion to non-horsey things. Ideally a Rice-style trailer, with a door at the back and a door at the front - something like the attached.

If I'm looking for something that's structurally sound and ready to tow to my home, what would be the best place to look? I'm not sure I have the knowledge to be able to assess how structurally sound a trailer is, so I'd like to go somewhere relatively trustworthy.

I'm in South Wales, but could travel - any ideas on the best places to look?

Have look on eBay and gumtree. Or just google horse trailer sales.

Thanks, I've been having a look but I lack confidence in my own ability to assess how roadworthy they are from a few pictures on scumtree. Any tips on what to look for / avoid?

I was hoping there was a specialist website or reputable used horse box salesman(!) around somewhere!

Let me guess
Mobile prosecco bar?

Try ebay and then get it checked over.

Also make sure your driving licence is valid for you to tow and that you have a suitable replacement vehicle. You will have to check weights

There will definitely be specialists about, I'm sure google will throw up some in your area.

Do you know of any agricultural/equestrian outlets or even someone with stables... these are you people who would be able to point you in the right direction.

Ask on your local FB equestrian page for recommendations of trailer mechanics. Then ask the recommended person if they know of any coming up for sale.

There are usually local equestrian websites for particular counties who display free ads for trailers, usually will state the condition and weight limit on the ad. That’s where I usually look. Any website that sells horses usually sells second hand transport as well. Try horsequest.co.uk

I meant suitable towing vehicle not replacement !

There’s links to a lot of second hand trailers on the Ifor Williams website so there may be something in your area.
