Homes needed ASAP for a dozen horses. City farm closure is leaving these precious animals effectively homeless.
Good forever homes needed NOW.
3 PIGS, A GOAT AND A MULE ALSO.
HARTLEPOOL /DURHAM AREA.

You probably need to share this on a local Facebook equestrian page.

It's hush hush to the public as on occasion a horse had been 'borrowed' by local teens , riden and taken back, don't want them all stolen as it's not guarded /that secure.
I have taken 2 rabbits which was the best I can do.
I have given them some suggestions and have to keep out of it I guess.. Very sad indeed.

If this is the place I think it is, are the rspca involved?

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 21/01/2019 18:48

Not that I know of.

I am sorry but this does not seem a sensible way to rehome horses. They need to be taken charge of by a charity (RSPCA, WHW or some smaller ones, although they may struggle to accommodate 12), assessed both in terms of health but also character and ridden potential and then found new homes with owners who have been vetted and matched.

Rehoming rabbits, a cat or a dog is nothing like rehoming a horse. They are large, powerful animals that can easily lose the plot, especially if they are not handled properly. They cost an enormous amount of money to keep and live a very long time. The kind of people who are likely to turn up to rehome any of 12 horses available are likely to be the kind of people who should not be trusted with horses. Best case you’ll get dealers who will pick the decent ones and sell them on for a quick profit, worse case you’ll get dreamers who will neglect them when they discover that they are in above their heads.

Is there any good reason why a horse charity is not involved? The reason you give above is really odd. The charity won’t advertise the closure of the centre, they wI’ll prepare everything and then come collect the horses.

We're actually looking for another goat. Would need to be a good fit though - what is it?

Aprilshowersarecomingsoon · 23/01/2019 16:52

The goat is male without horns! His best friends are the 2 aged sheep he is in with. He is fine around the dc and horses etc. I can pm you the number of the woman who is dealing with the animals if you want?
