Swollen leg ?infection (with pictures)

So dearHorse has broken the skin on his leg, and I've poulticed it overnight to draw out the infection from his tree trunk leg, I've redone it again today after cleaning it, so I've added before and after pictures.
It's looking great!
He's on box rest, and is getting rather fed up! And I'm back to work fri/sat so clueless hubby is doing him for me.
Just thinking ahead to tomo and I'm thinking about taking the bandage off, cleaning it again and wound powdering it. Reapplying a clean dressing and bandage with a view to repowdering Thursday evening, taking it all off and turnout Friday....

Or is this really not the right idea?
Everyone at the yard seems to be wanting to give their advice and I'm all confused!

Thanks!

You really wouldn't think I ran a yard of 80 just 6 years ago!!!

If it were me id want anti biotics. Friend of mines horse died of a similar thing when the infection spread into it's bones.

That looks very swollen , I’d also want antibiotics .

How did it go? Standing in makes it swell more too. If its soft tissue I tend to let them walk it off. I use manuka honey on all wounds and works really well

Apologies for the delayed reply!

He has photosensitivity, so done antibiotics and steroids and is back to his bouncing self! He's just going out at night now, and wears uv leg wraps.
