Is there anything I can do about my severe horse allergy?

I used to ride when I was 9-10 and loved it. Then I stopped to have major surgery, and when I went back near a horse afterwards I had a severe allergic reaction.

Now my DD is having riding lessons, and I really really want to get back on a horse again.

But even giving air kisses to her instructor in the cafe (so not even near the horses) gives me itchy eyes.

If I go near a horse, my eyes swell up, I sneeze violently and I get asthma.

It’s really getting me down (and it actually stopped me from studying Veterinary science too when I was younger) and I’d love to be able to fix it.

I doubt you can "fix" an allergy you've had since childhood. You've tried antihistamines I assume? Hmm maybe just keep away from horses and refrain from air-kissing to horsey people

I can’t, she’s French 😂

And I don’t want to keep away from horses, I want to get back on one. I am resigned to my fate but just wondered if anyone had any ideas they’d heard of, like exposure therapy

There are some treatments- but you need to talk to an allergy specialist.
Do you take anti-histamines? I am not allergic to horses, but have severe allergies to grass and tree pollens at this time of the year - and take prescription anti-histamines at this time of year.
