Who makes the longest jodphurs pls? (For slim/tall 12.5 yr girl.)

DD has spaghetti legs which keep growing!

Finding it v difficult to find jodphurs that fit on the waist but are long enough in the leg (even with turn-ups turned down ifyswim).

She has a 28" waist (but that's roomy).

Think we have even grown out of Harry Hall's which offer a 'long' option.

May have to switch to breeches but would prefer not to at this point. Or resort to chaps ... .

They are just for leisure riding btw, not for showing or anything.

We've tried some small ladies sizes but they are too short too!

I have no advice I'm afraid, but I have similar issues with my 8 year old.
If they fit her in the leg, I have to take them in by 2 inches at the waist, or just let them gape (fine in this weather as she's covered up with jumpers/coats!)
And she's not even particularly tall or skinny!

Thanks Biggles the thought of doing a bit of sewing hadn't occurred to me but I guess that might be a possibility!

Interesting that you are having the same prob. Never used to have an issue with this and dd has been v slim all along ifyswim. Only having this difficulty now she is moving from child sizes to teen/adult sizes.

Even the Dublin Slender range are too big at the waist

I had this problem with DD1 and never found a pair to fit properly she isn't even tall but I always had to take the waist in if I bought a pair that fit on the legs.

I think her best ones were Shires but I still had to take the waist in.

Try the HKM children's ones or they also do some of their ladies range in short leg

Just wear chaps. Breeches are supposed to be short anyway.

Yes Shamonts I have acquired some chaps and dd should indeed wear them but she always leaves them somewhere ... or can't be bothered to put them on ...so she was riding around at half term with about 3 inches of skinny ankles showing Not the end of the world I know but it just looked a bit odd ... .

Long (heavy) boots don't help her leg position.

You can get sock-chap hybrids. Doesn't solve the jods issue but she could keep them on and they'd cover her legs.

These are the breeches that I've found come up very long in the children's sizes!

Ds age 12 has this- 5'4 (about 5 foot of which is super skinny leg!) is and a 22inch waist.

We found an old gorringe pair that fit him really well. They are a ladies 24'

How tall is she? We had a pair of size 6 women's from equestrian clearance that did fit beautifully last year but are now getting a bit short... So I'm watching with interest!

Highly recommend Le Beau Cheval - they do all sizes to fit you. They even make DD's to measure.. Alternatively Showing Selection do a great range to fit all. I know these are showing specialists but their jods are top class and last.

Thanks DrunkenUnicorn as it happens dd is exactly the same height as your ds, although you have it worse in terms of waist size, because she has a 25" girth. Her legs are disproportionately long to her body though! Will investigate Gorringe, thank you.

Btw, if anyone who is reading this wants a selection of lightly worn, good quality jodphurs that fit a string bean girl age range about 8 - 12 yrs, then I will happily put them in the post for you next time we are in the UK. Have a truly fantastic Harry Hall riding coat too (will go and check size, think it is for a 10yr old) and various gloves. Would rather they go to a riding family then just in to the general charity box.

Dd is 5'6" - mostly leg - and is currently riding in Harry Hall 24" long jodhpurs - they're a bit too short but she rides in chaps and the fashion at her stables is to wear long socks over jodhpurs so she doesn't have any leg flashing

Thanks Noitsnot yes, they do the long sock thing at dd's stables too, but I think chaps may be the way to go for now

Btw, I am losing my marbles, her waist is 25" (not 28" as posted in my op) which is a major point of this thread! (Translating it from metric.)

I had the same jods from the age of 8 to 16! I just wore long socks over the end and chaps, I was just too skinny for anything else.

Even now (age..!) I find ladies jods really short, I just wear knee high socks over them so you don't notice.

I've always found getting boots an issue so wore velcro chaps for years, now I have Ariat Glaciers where I can tighten the strings and Brogini Custom Fit boots for best!

I've just come back on here to report that the Shires jodphurs (for 'maids') fit really well and are long enough! Yay!

And we have also bought a slightly bigger ladies pair for when dd has the next growth spurt.

They seem really good quality too so thanks again for the advice everyone!
