Livery proposition

Hi all
I have a lovely field with field shelter, water, all year turnout, stable if you want (but am running a paddock paradise system so stabling not necessary). I don't have a school. Hacking is quiet lanes, a couple of canter spots, possible farmers fields.
We could possibly school/ do ground work like parelli in the field if its dry enough.
We are near a big population area on Berkshire/Hants border.
I need a couple of horses/ ponies on livery to help towards costs. Will I be able to get liveries without a school? I was thinking £80/mth.

Opinions? Experiences?

How big is your field? Do you have planning permission to section off part of the field for a school or only for grazing? People have been caught out for that near me and I am SE England too. Sounds pretty cheap though for this area.

I have pp for equestrian use, so no not just grazing. I wouldn't need further pp to school in field, only to install an actual manage.

Will I get liveries without an arena?

I think at that price you probably would - would it be DIY, or could you do rugs, feeds, checks etc (might be less hassle for you if you did the regular checks) ? Also, if there is an arena near you, could you get a deal so that you can tell people about it and they can book at reasonable rates? I would always prefer an arena on site, but if there was one in hacking distance I could hire, it might be even better as I wouldn't have the other liveries 'helpfully' commentating as I schooled. Just some thoughts - group 24 hour turn out would certainly attract me, loads of places are individual turnout and night stabling round here.

I could definitely do some of the checks etc. There are schools nearby in boxing distance, not seen any hackable yet. Thanks for your comments, I was worried it may be a non-starter

I hoped it might appeal to people not wanting a busy livery yard and all that goes with that

We are based at a similar yard and it is great for us. We moved there when our horse was being semi retired and we needed to reduce costs (the two weren't related). He couldn't be schooled much and we were only taking him for gentle walks. He has since become unrideable but as we pay low rates and the grazing is good, we have kept him there. The other horses based at our yard are another retired gelding and a younger horse who is mostly only used for hacking. His owner does, however, occasionally rent the school at another small yard.

I think you would get liveries, especially if you focus on semi-retired horses/ happy hackers, keep the livery costs low and potentially make contact with the owners of a near-by school which could be rented occasionally. For people in our situation, affordability, grazing and the option of a stable if required really are priorities.

Oh, and in a different part of SE we are paying £20/week on a DIY basis (we do basic fence repairs, ragworting, hedge trimming etc as well to keep costs down).
