Do any of you help at a horse rescue?

I haven't ridden for years but am not brave enough yet to loan or in a position to buy. Do you think I could volunteer at a horse rescue to get more confident? I'm not necessarily looking to ride ( but that would be a fab bonus) more just being around horses again and tacking up etc.

I expect they would be thrilled to get some help .

It's definitely worth asking. Also perhaps do a course in horse ownership? I know the local riding school to us do hands on days, and they aren't just for children. Roughly what part of the country are you?
