... without the lead rein.

Just wanted to share, I am so pleased with myself.

We are not used to hacking out at all. DPony didn't like going out and no-one else at our yard hacks (there are only a handful of us) so we mostly school. But since we got DHorse it has been one of my ambitions to hack more regularly. I have been putting it off for weeks, silly excuses, it is raining, it is too cold, it will be dark soon, it it a bit windy etc

But today I decided no more excuses. We only went out for about 30 mins, with DH walking next to us. She didn't seem too spooked. She stopped and looked around a bit, and at one point I really had to work to keep her at a gentle walk (she would have preferred a fast trot) but I did it. I really wanted to keep to a walk to send the message that going out was calm and not scary.

I've got a big grin on my face now Grin

Thank you.

I know for a lot of people it won't seem like a big deal but to me it was an enormous step forward.

you know my instructor always says to me to do things in my own time, when I am ready to push myself.....not when other people think I am ready.

Sounds like you have a good instructor.
