Does anyone have any ideas to safely loan out our forever horse for a year?

As the title says really, we have the most fabulous 14.2 who we will never part with however dd is taking a break for a year and she is too big for my other children. I rarely ride and dm is young so wouldn't benefit from a year out really. The obvious solution is to loan her but I am paranoid about it ending badly. I don't want her to go to just anyone and no one locally seems to be looking. Does anyone have any brilliant ideas please?

(Not putting her in foal though, for some reason lots of people seem to think that is a brilliant solution. ... I don't )

H4H is good as applicants have to pay and it weeds out the time wasters and joyriders. They have FB page too. Wish I had known about it when I was loaning out.

I agree about the foal thing too. Why on earth would you want two ponies on your hands!

Thank you peanut. We have three ponies and share four horses. Only recently rehomed a colt and his mother after a mercy dash at the sales so another is definitely off the agenda

Horses for homes does sound good and I have pmd vicar. .. although it was slightly strange as I didn't really know what I was asking her so I may have scared her off

how about working livery in a riding school, it will educate pony as well

Thanks littlebigbum, we have a local school she could go to run by a friend (who has been desperate to get her since we bought her lol) but that isn't the situation we want for her, ideally we want her in a one to one situation (obviously barring the usual livery assistance etc) that seems to be how she is happiest.

I wouldn't put any pony of mine in a school. Ever. Personally, I would advertise for a loan from current yard, or a sharer or two. You get to keep your eye on them and keep control of your pony. Ive got 2 ponies that need sharers right now, Im going to advertise £20 for 3 visits a week. That works quite well here.

I was going to ask the same thing......we have a lovely cob gelding that we need to loan out. Ideally I'd like him to stay where he is so that he isn't sold or mistreated.
