Hay,Straw & wrecked land crisis - time to pack up this livery game!

What with the wet weather, poor grass growth, hay crisis is it time to pack in the DIY livery game?

I just wonder if there is enough profit for the constant hassle and what seems to be a battle with many ladies who just dont play ball.

Another wet winter like last year then cant bear it. My fields are wrecked by some ladies who dont listen and the chasing of money.

A mixture of rain and great weather should get the hay fields shooting up soon. Stick with it! We're already thinking we'll have to borrow some sheep as our rested fields are getting lush.

As regards payment of bills the key is not to let them get too big. Either pay up or they are out!

Try and stay with it Bacon. The good times will roll again. We just need a bit of rain.

I dont see how anyone can make a profit from DIY liveries, when you add up the water, field trashing, fence trashing etc, must be marginal really.
this winter was esp evil though so things can only get better!

Where my horses spent the winter the owner asked for 4 weeks in advance, extras after that so at least he wasn't hugely out of pocket. His field management was crap (not really horse minded) but he was kind enough to let me have use of a large cattle passageway behind the barns when dhorse was confined with mud fever.

How do you get your liveries? Can you vet them a bit more strictly, get them through word of mouth which hopefully means you know a bit more about them?
