Any recommendations for a riding holiday in the UK

Must be somewhere safe and suitable for a group of adults of mixed abilities (everyone has some prior experience but the least experienced rider is quite new to riding). We don't have own horses.

Have been looking at the Highlands Unbridled website. Any thoughts on that?

Highlands Unbridled doesn't appear to be listed on BHS website - should that put me off?

We had our honeymoon at freerein in wales it was brilliant, I think they would offer 'on to the trail' options for groups like yours

I imagine she'd be able to accommodate less able riders by doing a few half days for them. No harm in asking. Gorgeous area and superb, get away from it all riding. Also lots of other activities within easy driving distance.

I thoroughly recommend freerein if you can afford it now, hacking round welsh national parks to arrive at a pub for the night was excellent!

I've ridden here several times and the hacking is fantastic. The food was always lovely too.

Thanks. Pipsy have looked into Freerein and all the reviews I can find online say how amazing it is. I am not a student now so can afford it I think!

I want to take DP with me - he has no real horse riding experience (other than a couple of pony treks as a child) but he is very sporty, very confident and has great balance (he snowboards and mountain bikes lots). He has no fear so I am sure he will pick it up very quickly. Now I just need to persuade him to come!

There is a lovely little place on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors that I rode at last summer and I am going back taking my 8 year old in the spring.

It isn't all singing and dancing with a posh yard etc., but the horses are beautifully kept and ideal for beginners, although they had a couple that were for more experienced riders too.

The lady who runs it was really friendly and knowledgeable and we rode out for a pub ride, where we untacked the horses and turned them out while we had a lovely lunch - I felt like I was in some sort of horsey novel!!

I believe they do a two day ride and transfer your bags etc. to a B&B which your ride to and then back again the next day. There is a lot to see in the area too, being 'Herriott' country.

Bearing in mind that some of your group may not have ridden, maybe two days would be plenty as a starter and you could do a couple days elsewhere in the area.
