First comp ever in a month, what should I wear so I don't look scuzzy ?
I have beige jods, black jod boots, - would my tweed hacking jacket be ok ? What sort of shirt ? Tie or stock ?

Tweed hacking jacket would be fine, plus a plain dark tie and a white shirt with a collar. And a big grin so the judge thinks you're enjoying yourself!

Good luck; let us know how it goes!

Great, thank you ! I just need to pinch one of DHs ties as my showing one is dark gold.

Am looking forward to it, and it has been great as a focus

I'm sure dark gold would be OK. Which test(s) are you doing?

CMOTDibbler · 30/05/2012 13:05

Only 2008 A walk/trot Blush. But its a start, and in the not quite two years since I lost the use of my left arm, I didn't think always that I'd get this far. Just need a bit more control in canter now.

Tweed is fine, with a tie. I think you only wear stocks with black or navy.

I wear a green striped tweed for dressage and much prefer it as it goes better with my horse's type (I have a traditional piebald hairy beast). It looks super smart and I like the fact that we stand out a bit amongst a sea of navy and black Grin I was one of a handful in tweed at Stoneleigh last year.

I'm fairly sure it's more correct to wear a coloured stock with tweed for dressage, I think I got this idea from the BE dressage rules. I only wear a tie with tweed for showing and cubbing. With tweed, a coloured shirt should be worn with a tie, a pale yellow is ideal.

Oh wow, you are competing! That's so exciting, very best of luck. Please please please can we see photos? Have you learned the test or is someone allowed to call it out?

CMOTDibbler · 31/05/2012 09:02

I will post photos Smile

I've learned the test - while doing dponys in hand work, we've been actually going through it, which makes everyone else Grin greatly
