I think this is the most astonishing looking horse I've ever seen

I was just googling Akhal-Tekes 'cause I've got a new MN name and found this...

I can't look at this horse without making little involuntary whimpers of yearning...

Aware that the breed isn't to everyones taste, though, but wanted to share Smile

V impressive Smile

They are an amazing breed.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 28/04/2012 23:51

Beautiful. Looks like it is glowing from within.

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 28/04/2012 23:54

It's golden!

I'm not a horsey person but wow :)

QwertyGerty · 28/04/2012 23:55

Gasp!< Gorgeous!

thenightsky · 28/04/2012 23:56

Wow, just wow.

geminigirl · 28/04/2012 23:56

Oooooooohhhhhh! It's like something from a dream.....

IMcHunt · 28/04/2012 23:57

They're my absolute favourites. I wants one. Given that I haven't ridden regularly for 18 years, however, I think an Akhal-Teke would be too much horse for me... Sad

hellymelly · 29/04/2012 00:02

I thought he had a very unusual mane, until I realised it was trees.....(I am not knowledgable about horses, in case you were wondering). Anyway, does have a very magical quality, I've never seen a horse like that before.

ICutMyFootOnOccamsRazor · 29/04/2012 00:02

Shock. Unbelievably beautiful.

ThatVikRinA22 · 29/04/2012 00:05

metallic paint on a hoss! i love it!

kellykateneedsaholiday · 29/04/2012 00:06

wow, a golden horse, i want one.

Floggingmolly · 29/04/2012 00:11

God, he's gorgeous!!!!

CalamityKate · 29/04/2012 00:15

OMG!! That's amazing! A metallic horse!

Surely with a bit of crossbreeding you could feasibly end up with one that looked different colours from different angles, like those cars?

MoonlightandRoses · 29/04/2012 00:22

He's a beauty - what's their temperament generally like?

AlpinePony · 29/04/2012 07:23

I had one in my horse breeds book when I was a kid, magical creatures. Although I bet they've got the temperament of a needy thoroughbred, probably need central heating for their stables, only eat bamboo and each blade of straw needs to be hand thinned. They probably go lame when not bouncing on clouds or candy floss too! ;)

So at this stage of life I dream of a rippling, lapped section D or Cleveland bay! ;)

AlpinePony · 29/04/2012 07:23

Dappled, not lapped.

chezchaos · 29/04/2012 07:28

Oh wow!

PMSL at the tree mane :)

MercyDulbottle · 29/04/2012 16:08

Oh, gosh, it's like a fairy horse. I showed DD and she's going nuts for it.

Can you get them in the UK?

AllPastYears · 29/04/2012 20:13

Sorry no, too freaky! And I don't like skinny-looking breeds.

CalamityKate · 29/04/2012 21:24

I know what you mean APY - I'm not keen on its conformation.

But a METALLIC horse!

snowpo · 29/04/2012 21:26

Ooh, AllPastYears I'm with you! Wierd stance, dodgy neck and don't like that 'pulled up' look. I was expecting a pic of a gleaming golden beastie, thats how I remember pics of them. This one kind of looks more gleaming cremello. But then I'm not that keen on cremello's - I know lots of people love them.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 29/04/2012 21:26

I need one. That is just a beautiful animal. Do any mnetters have one?

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 29/04/2012 21:27

I bet that colour comes as a very expensive optional extra! Confused
I thought Akhal Teke, the second I saw the thread title! They are amazing. Envy

CalamityKate · 29/04/2012 21:31

Yeah Saggy, I looked at the site of some breeders and most of the horses shown were plain ol' bays and a couple that looked like common or garden dun.

I agree - the metallic ones are probably like gold dust and cost pretty much as much!
