A horse at the yard has just been diagnosed and I'm worried about my 2.
Is it contagious? Is it the result of a different infection? My 2 have had their flu vaccs.....does this mean anything?
TIA

Depends on what is causing pneumonia. It could be neurological or pathalogical. Could be caused by heart condition which has caused a build up of liquid in the lungs but could also be caused by a virus such as Herpes etc.

You need to find out what its vaccination status was - not only for EI but also for EHV1. Also find out if any other horses affected and monitor your own horse for temperature etc.

You should speak to the vet who is treating the sick horse.
