it is the pony clubs christmas SJ and my dd (aged 13) needs to dress up as something and dress up the pony too.

She doesn't want to stick to the typical christmas theme....... any ideas what she can go as?

What sort of thing are you thinking of, surely everyone will be Christmassy? I recently found out (because a couple of people from our field were taking their dcs to a show) that you can actually buy pony fancy dress costumes on line (Not sure I approve tbh Hmm. Seems a bit cheaty) so maybe you could have a google and see if any ideas take your fancy. Be careful though, I just had a quick look on ebay for 'pony fancy dress' and found some very surprising leather items for 'pony play'Confused.

Will the pony have to be able to jump in the outfit?

i need it for saturday so not sure about ordering on line in case it doesn't arrive in time

Yes pony needs to be able to jump

We've done pony as a pinata, pony as sea and dd as swimmer (more of a good weather one!). Couldyou do punk pony with fluorescent leg warmers and spikey mane?

I have to turn dpony into a christmas tree next weekend.....

we have decided to do "winnie the witch" and her cat

I just need to work out how to turn the pony into a cat!

DD is already a witch! Grin

There was an amazing 'Royal Wedding' at the Malton Show this year - pony wore a wedding dress and rider was Prince William....
I love watching Mounted Fancy Dress - it is insane Grin

AAARRRGGGHHHHH! Dont mention fancy dress!!!!
I gave up, after DD lost out to 3 knights in shop bought costumes, and the winner, a middle aged bloke in a too small santa suit, on a dirty cob with some tinsel in its tail! In August! not bitter at all
We I always wanted DD to be Death, on his white horse 'Binky' from Terry Pratchett, but nobody would ever know who she was on about!
What type and colour of pony does your DD have?

What about Red Riding Hood? A friend of ours did this once, she attached a cardboard muzzle with fangs to the noseband, made wire specs for the pony out of wire, cut ear holes in a mob cap and draped a granny style nighty over ponys back. Rider wore the red cape. It looked very good.

We did a burgler fancy dress once. Dhorse wore one of those head warmer things that look like balaclavas. I had black jods, a stripey top and a mask and a swag bag. It was quite cool.

I did Lady Godiva once - with the help of a 'nude' body suit I hasten to add! Made a blonde 'wig' from yellow wool to fit over my hat. And it was summer.

Saggy lovely idea but I fear you're right ...
