TA reporting my teaching to Learning manager

I’ve started a new school. Secondary. In my first week A TA told me the learning manager asked the to confirm i was applying the behaviour policy correctly. I thought this was a bit off but the LM told me it was evidence when parents asked - I didn’t ask they volunteered this. Another occasion, they came in and mimed to the TA to take a photo of the conduct board. I saw this and said thank you I will do that.

I want others opinions as this does not sit well with me - there are all sorts of issues -but I am unsure whether to raise it and who with and on what grounds?

That is weird. Are there other new members of staff you can check with to see if this is happening to them too?

Unless you are teaching a child whose parents are notorious for complaining about unfair sanctions, checking in on you in your first week before you've done anything wrong is a bit much.

I’m the only new teacher this year. I just wish people were open and transparent rather than sneaking about.

What is a learning manager? Are you an ECT?

Strange - are they taking a picture of a display? I'm not sure what evidence that would be for a parent. I would always assume people aren't actually out to get you. If by learning manager you mean the assistant sendco or line manager of the TAs - I'm not sure what this would be for but I would always er on the side that I have absolutely nothing to hide and by all means snap away.

Teaching and TA should be team work. Perhaps it's the management doing the divide and conquer thing(been there). Speak to other colleagues to see if it happened when new. If they have explained their policies they should trust you to get on with them. Maybe the TA is getting put in a difficult position

A learning manager is a non-teaching head of year- pastoral and behaviour support.

I spoke with my hod and SLT link.
I think it was a naive misjudgement on LM part. My concern is what happens with that information. It is essentially covert surveillance.

What did your HOD and SLT say? Did they have any idea what was going on?
