How are you using AI?

I am really keen to hear how other teachers are using AI, as I'm finding it pretty transformative to be honest.

For example, I have a low-ability KS3 class and this HT we're reading a gothic novel. I've been using AI to create 'starter sheets' for them. The sheet has the same polished and consistent look everyday and contains the date and title (which otherwise takes them all over 5 minutes to write and underline), the key vocab for the day with an infographic, a bullet pointed summary of the chapter we will be reading, along with an image relating to that chapter, and three short-answer Do Now questions. They come in, stick the sheet in, and answer the questions. It might sound small, but it's transformed the lessons! Behaviour and engagement has improved massively just from this!!

I'm interested to know what other ways teachers are using AI to improve practice and meet student needs?

I am using it in different ways.

I needed a poster advertising Y11 revision sessions so used it for that- it did a great job in about 3 minutes. I am the least creative person ever so it was a massive time saver for me.

Sometimes, I use it to write starter or quick check questions as it can do different contexts easily.

I have a very low attaining Y11 group so I sometimes ask it to adapt the questions in our scheme to suit and it does a decent job.

I have a SEN Y7 class and it's been great for adding images to things.

Obviously it doesn't work for everything and you have to check what it produces but for certain things it's a definite time saver.

Thanks; this all sounds really good!

It seems at the moment teachers are independently fiddling around with it and doing their own thing, but there's no doubt AI is going to change education in lots of ways in coming years, and it'll be very interesting to see what form that takes.

I use it for quick knowledge check starters, example answers for more ambiguous mark schemes to show students, I am teaching a course that's new to me so I have tried out the Tutor2U AI marking tool to check against my marking, I use it to find current real-life case studies linked to a topic, make answers for worksheets and lots more. I am fully timetabled and teach 8 A-Level groups so it's quite intense, so using AI to save me some time means I am mentally and literally freed up to be present in lessons and give the kids a decent experience (hopefully!). I am open with the students that I use it, but model using it responsibly, not using it to replace my own mental processes etc.

I'm sure there are lots of other ways it can be used

All the above, but find it most useful to write minutes of meetings. saves me hours.
