My school has been put into special measures by OFTSED. I've been there 2 years. Behaviour notably has got worse and worse, school has had lots of heads over the last few years. New head started just before OFSTED, we were promised things would be different in September.
Different means worse! If a student is parked in a lesson, they get given a detention. Detention is a loose word- they collect them all in the hall (sat with friends), staff have to go and have a repair conversation - if we don't, pulled up on it- and then student is free to go. Behaviour is worse than ever yet senior leaders keep praising the fact we are improving. No sanction for being late, no sanction for truancy, students just get brought to lesson. This is often highly disruptive! So of course we have a lot of truancy, this directly impacts lessons being taught l. I could go on and on.
Has any other school adopted this approach, and an I being short sighted and it will eventually work? Students are not engaging in conversation, they want them over ASAP so they are allowed to leave. I am so unhappy and stressed at the moment with the poor behaviour in every class.
