Surgery during school holidays

unfortunately I had tonsils out due to a suspicious growth.

the recovery is 2-3weks so should be better for inset day 1-2 sept .

do I need to get a sick not or supply the school with it? Should I tell my head?

Im Worried is will still be unwell on inset day .

It's impossible to tell at this stage what you will feel like by 1st September. You could feel absolutely fine by then. Personally I'd leave it until the last week of August. If you are still feeling rubbish, then you can contact your GP about a sick note. You could always email your headteacher informing them of your surgery, just so they're aware. Depends on your relationship, but I think most headteachers would appreciate forewarning if there is a slight possibility you may miss the start of term. By sending an email, you're not disturbing them in the holidays, as it's up to them when they check them and if and when they respond to them.
