Suitable story suggestions for a Year 3 teaching assistant interview task

I’ve been offered a teaching assistant interview but been told it will “consist of a short task with a group of Y3 children and we would like you to share a short story of your own choosing with the group. Please bring a copy of the book you have chosen with you. This will be for around 20 minutes”. Does anyone have any recommendations for a suitable story for the age group please?

I would either choose a book you know or look at the school website to see what the children have been learning and find a book which is loosely connected-or both!

The Tunnel by Anthony Browne is a book I use with my year 3 class. It isn’t a long or complex book but it’s full of excellent pictures with hidden fairy tale objects the children love to spot. There are also lots of opportunities to discuss with the children what they might have done at various points and the mystery of how the boy is turned to stone.

Thank you both!
