Search roman story book year 3.

There seem to be lots of suggestions. It also might be an idea to ask what they know about the Romans I suggest that you get a large book with lots of pictures

It might be an idea to tell them some of the things that the Romans invented that we still use today, ice cream, central heating, cookery books (Apicus), roof tiles (the ones that interlock), Roman numerals on clock faces. Also mention that you can still see Roman buildings, such as Hadrian's Wall, Colchester castle (the basement). It might be useful to mention Pliny the Elder who was one of the first people to describe fossils. He was killed in the eruption of Vesuvius. There you have cross curricular - science and fossils (students love dinosaurs) , Geology - volcanoes and History
