Tutoring own students

I’m considering doing some private tuition in addition to my paid teaching role. I did this years ago, but had to give it up due to unsociable hours and fitting it around my children. I’m now in a position where I could potentially start it up again. I’m just wondering what others do if they are contacted by the parents of current students to offer tuition? I don’t think I would be comfortable giving private tuition to someone I teach during the day. I’m not entirely sure why, but I think tutoring feels like a more personal relationship with families if that makes sense. I’m wondering if I should add something in my tutoring contract about not taking on current students. Am I being daft?

I don't believe anyone should be paid to tutor students from their own school.

Best to pass this on to other tutors. Saves any difficulties or conflict of interest.

My daughter is a teacher and her school does not allow its teachers to accept requests to tutor their students privately (or indeed to tutor any students at the school).

At our school, you would need to declare a conflict of interest and would not be allowed to tutor on site.

You aren't allowed to tutor your own students, because you sre already being paid to teach them.
