Pay panic

Hi all,

I resigned from my current workplace. My current workplace urged me to hand my notice in asap so they could advertise. I had my offer letter and confirmation of start dates. I was told my start date was x date and that pay commences on the 1st of that date and contract starts on x date so I can wrote my resignation to the date prior.

since then HR have contacted me stating that they made a slight error and the official contract starts on Y date and now I’m assuming pay commences from that date too which has about a 10 day gap between exiting my old contract and starting the new one.

I am now panicking about what to do because I’ve handed in my notice and it’s been actioned, am I allowed to amend it, I can’t afford to be without my pay.

Could anyone advise? I’ll probably seek clarity from the new school first. But if I have to will my current school make the adjustment. I handed my notice in only a few days ago.

Only the two schools involved will know the answer.

Are you moving between two state schools in England and are both contracts under STPCD?
