Primary School Language Resource Teacher

Hi,

I have been a primary school teacher for 13 years and have not been enjoying my job for a while. I still love teaching but find the pace and expectations relentless and I have less and less time to truly connect with and nurture the children I serve.

Last year was extremely stressful for me in my personal life and with the added expectations from work, I suffered with extreme burnout.

I am considering applying for a new position as a Language Resource provision teacher. I would hope this would mean less restrictions from a fast paced curriculum and more flexibility to meet the children's needs. However - I'm unsure if this is actually the case.

I am also currently part time and the job is full time. If this would involve less late finishes (due to lots of marking and set up) and less working from home (due to planning for less subjects) this could be a change that I'd be willing to make.

Are there any language resource teachers on here who could offer me any advice?

If it’s a Resourced base/ class in a mainstream school, I’m assuming that the class size is small with extra support staff.
Are you very experienced with pupils with SEN/ EHCPs and language and communication difficulties? I expect it will be a very rewarding role where you feel that you are making a difference.
They will all have individual needs to be met and there will be review paperwork but the demands will be different.
Can you visit and ask some questions before deciding? Good luck.
