Teacher using weight loss injections?

prettyinpink23x · 14/11/2025 17:04

Ive noticed from before we broke up for summer to September there has been drastic weight loss in our school. People who have always been bigger suddenly came back in September about 3 stone down. Someone today said many of them are on mounjaro. Everytime I see someone I have to do a double take as they have drastically dropped the weight.

Has anyone else observed this?

What does their profession have to do with it?

Ok. Well no, I've not noticed this. I'm also a teacher. I know one teacher on injections. I know two other people on them as well. I'm not sure there's a particularly high number of teachers on them, from what I can tell.

Pickledpoppetpickle · 15/11/2025 09:23

Wow. Not content with gossiping in the workplace, you're now seeking some kind of validation from the internet?

I waited till the summer to start because frankly, many of the potential side effects are not compatible with school life. So the difference in September was evident. I am sure I have been talked about but this summer I worked hard at making a number of overdue changes to my life. What has that got to do with any of my colleagues?!

I know quite a few teachers who are on sertraline or levothyroxine. Shall we gossip about them, too? Hmm

Im also on sertraline. I am not ‘gossiping’ about people personally’ my commentary is my surprise at how rife weight loss injections are in schools at the minute largely by people who were slim to begin with.

You said it was 'people who have always been bigger' in your OP. Make your mind up.

No Ive seen people who have always been bigger and they look a lot healthier but the most shocking has been slim people who now look very skinny. Stop being so defensive about your choices

What choices, please?

ProudCat · 16/11/2025 21:18

Yes, I have noticed this. We're in double figures. Worryingly, the students have also noticed and are asking questions.

Pickledpoppetpickle · 17/11/2025 09:24

What is worrying about over weight people trying to lose weight?

ThanksItHasPockets · 17/11/2025 13:48

And how do pp know that these people are using WLI unless that has been explicitly disclosed? OP assumed that I’m using WLI simply because I criticised her for gossiping.

They have bragged about being on them

And?
If someone has lost three stone or gained three stone it is none of your business.

mydogisanidiott · 22/11/2025 13:45

I’m a teacher using WLI and have lost four stone since January. What exactly do you want to know and I can tell you?

ask me anything!

MN2025 · 22/11/2025 14:58

What’s the point in this post? It’s quite frankly none of your business… or anyone else’s for that matter. Focus on your teaching and your own life.

Your last sentence speaks volumes OP.

You are gossiping. You are passing comment and judgement, then quick to judge again when posters here call you out for it. The injections are life changing for so many people and there are a myriad of reasons why people are choosing them. Are you jealous? Would you gossip about people on other medication?

Again, your use of language is very telling OP.

You’re not coming across very well here OP.

Nothing. As someone with a history of disordered eating, however, teaching in an environment where there are vulnerable young people, it does worry me that colleagues are open about WLI, including those who have sourced them privately for aesthetic rather than health purposes. We're beginning to see people becoming very thin. Modelling such behaviour is a concern.

Kids will see people of all shapes and sizes. They don't need protecting from what their teachers look like.

Surely you just remind them that we don’t really have the right to comment on one another’s bodies?
