Moving on as TA

I’m a TA, have been in foundation for 3 years but this year moved out into year 2. I loved being part of the EYs team and was unhappy to move on but I understand we go where the need is. However, I’m unsettled and feel massively undervalued by SLT.
Transition day was a nightmare so I decided to use this feeling to fuel my exit plan. I’d like to move to speech and language but was probably thinking of in another year or so (due to my own children being at the same school). However I’ve seen a job advertised for a SaLT assistant working in schools. It’s not in my area so I’d have to travel and my children would need to attend wraparound probably but I’m not sure whether to apply. Closing date is soon so if I get an interview I’d need to let school know and it’s not quite the timing I was after.
Anyone made a similar move which worked out? Or which didn’t?

I don’t see what you’d have to lose by going to the interview tbh. You might end up doing something you love. I think being a TA is definitely a job that can be undervalued and it’s very easy to then get demoralised and stuck in a role that you have outgrown.
