Summer stressing

Just need to vent I think.
I'm taking over a new to me class in sept. It's our SEND hub so the classroom is a little different to norm. Because of this they could only back my displays on the last day- there are no headings up. (My own TA has backed and put up headings and other bits for the new teacher taking over my old room).

We have a deep clean every summer, that is happening today and tomorrow. Until then all the big furniture in our rooms has to be in the middle of the room.

I have only Wednesday to get in and sort my room out.

DS2's birthday is 22nd August, DH 2nd September so we seem to have fallen into a pattern of going away around the 22nd (kinda means DH can book off that week and his birthday all in one block).

I'm just finding it stressful. I want to be in more but trying not too go in too much for my own sanity and my boys.

Just feeling it at the moment. Argh!

I get this feeling! The exact same thing happened to me last summer, there was a lot of building work going on, then I was on holiday, and there ended up being one day I could go in to sort the whole room. I was so stressed in the run up but I got it done, and you will too! 💪🏼

I wouldn't necessarily put anything up on your boards. You want it to be a low arousal space. I don't even have boards in my room (which I was lucky enough to design myself). I just have a big whiteboard to the side of the IWB that I use as a timetable and working wall.

Just spend Wednesday making sure it is a clear space and the desks etc are where you want them and your visuals are sorted.

I get you want everything perfect but keeping the room free of displays might actually help some students. Then You can also plan some of the displays together with the students as some of the ice breaking activities.

This is your summer break, spend with your family. You will need all your energy/enthusiasm for the term, are sure you are well rested now is important.

If it's any consolation, one of our classrooms is getting new tables. Old ones have been disposed of. New ones should arrive Tues afternoon (children back on Weds.)

And much of the school has either plastering or decorating going on over the next two days, whilst the staffroom currently has neither electricity nor water.
