No timetable for next year

Which is very unusual for my school - I’ve been there 7 years and normally get the timetable before half term, to give people time to check it over and make sure you are always teaching 10G on period 6. Last year was delayed and we got the timetable just before the end of term (and it ended up a muddle as some didn’t take from year 10 into year 11 and year 12 into year 13).

This year nothing, I don’t even know which classes I will have. Very strange.

When do you normally get your timetable for next year? I’m at an independent schools so we broke up ages ago!

Everywhere I have worked, we have always had it before term ends.

My previous school, it was usually a couple of weeks before.

Current school about a week before - we finish Tuesday and got it last Monday.

Has the person who normally does the timetable left? It seems very strange to not even know which classes you have! Can you send a polite email to someone senior and query it.

I sympathise - that would drive me mad!

It is odd isn’t it. I’m not planning on doing any work for a couple of weeks and fingers 🤞🏻 I will have a timetable by then.

I don't have a timetable, yet, and we're starting back in a few weeks. We usually get it in the week before the new term starts. I've had an overview of the subjects and year groups I'll be teaching but I can imagine that there might also be changes at short notice...

Who is doing the timetable? Can you not drop them an email to ask?
In my current school and previous, work usually starts constructing the timetable in February/March as it is such a large task - 1100 students and 150/200 teachers. They are usually finalised by the end of June once recruitment is completed and staff are notified first week in July.

It’s bizarre how you don’t know already - some teachers like to plan and get ahead of themselves!

I had to get quite stroppy and insistent when I didn't have mine by early July. I'm ND, with an official diagnosis, and uncertainty causes me anxiety. Got it the same day when I became assertive. My management like to keep the TT top secret as a way of controlling people and stopping them from identifying those who have received favourable treatment.
