Setting up new course-AIBU?

SLT have just told us we need to set up an additional course for September. The expectation seems to be that I will be doing the bulk of this and also be leading the course in future. For context I am capable of doing so and don't object.

However, hypothetically, can/should I be shouldering all of this when the other teacher on the course is the second in dept (I have no TLR, am just experienced) whose gained time works out at putting them on a 50% timetable (before their PPA and management time).

I have nothing against doing it or the second but is this really a reasonable ask? My solution is going to be to suggest the second picks up some of my classes- we share some- to free me up a bit of time. Does that seem reasonable? I do get a little gained time but more like an extra hour on some days.

If you truly have “nothing against doing it, just do it

if you would like the extra involvement, yes reasonable to raise it

I would try to be assertive and say you're excited to set up the new course but are concerned about having the time to do so effectively. You wonder if the teaching load in some of your shared classes could be shifted for the remaining six weeks, especially as you know that some staff have more gained time than others.

Only you know how this might go down with the person you'd need to ask, and whether you can cope with any potential ill-feeling it could cause.
