I was always under the assumption that the calendar agreed in Sept. had to remain the same throughout the year, but our HT is making a date change to after school parents eve.
Is this acceptable given the circumstances: non religious school, Muslim majority families. Inset calendared in advance for Monday to allow school to stay closed to pupils for during Eid. Parents eve calendared for Tues.
Considered a couple of weeks ago this won't be attended and consultation with staff to ask if we could change to another set date. Some staff did not agree to the date put forward, announcement made that original date would remain.
Panic yesterday. Letter sent home to say pupils must attend rest of next week after Eid and parents eve is on Tues.
Email to staff at end of day saying the date change would go ahead after all to following week (having admitted the consultation didn't allow for this!)
