How many candidates at interview?

I know this may be a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question, but I’m a trainee teacher and been invited to my first interview this week. I’m a career changer and in my previous career all recruitment was done through recruitment agencies, so you never knew of other candidates or really saw jobs advertised.

anyway, how many people do schools usually interview on the day? It’s a KS2 job and part of me thinks they can’t keep pulling lesson time for the interview lessons, so maybe there’s only 2 or 3 others? It’s a full day interview.

i am way more worried about teaching my lesson than I am about the formal interview part!!

It really varies. The smallest group I’ve been in was 1 (just me). The biggest was 8. Try not to focus on them; just ensure you’re as prepped as possible. Good luck!

Just plan your lesson based on the info you can get about the class. Plan for the T A if you have one - slt will probably ask for informal feedback from them. You will probably be asked about what went well/would have done differently. Keep on top of behaviour. Don't be afraid to pause if you haven't got full attention. Don't give other candidates a single thought. Smile and be polite to all staff. Good luck.
