I live in Switzerland, there is a shortage of teachers. I was approached by my local school to teach English as a foreign language at secondary level. I had zero teacher experience and was thrown in at the deep end. I‘m in my third year now and I really love it.
My headteacher is keen for me to get qualified, as am I (job security, and better pay). I have a BSc in Psychology (2:1).
My local Pädagogische Hochschule isn’t interested, because I only want to teach English. And a CELTA is no good, because I am teaching children.
I‘ve just discovered information on the iQTS. It’s all a bit confusing. Has anyone done one of these? How does it work? There is also the opportunity to qualify by assessment only. I‘m not sure if that would be applicable to me.
I‘d be very interested to hear from anyone more knowledgeable on the subject!
