Alternatives to teaching

Hope everyone is well. Easter holidays are around the corner!

I'm posting in the hope of gaining some insight.

For those of you who wish they'd done something other than becoming a teacher, what else would you have done?

If a primary teacher laterally wishes to change career, what other options are open/possible?

I've loved working in the school environment for a few years now, but I'm just wondering if that changes at some point in the future - can one diversify?

Really appreciate everyone's opinions and time taken to respond.

I am leaving teaching at the end of this year - am yet to secure a job but these are the sorts of things I am looking at/applying for, and areas that people I know who have left teaching have gone into that do use your skills/experience:

Outreach/community work for an organisation or charity
Learning and development roles
Mental health/wellbeing roles (non-clinical)
Project management
Tutor
Social/family/care roles

Some of these may require some retraining etc., but there are a lot of roles that require experience working with young people as an 'essential' and then other things as 'desirable'

Good luck! 🙂
