Invigilating

I am currently doing some invigilating
and am considering other part time jobs to fit in with invigilating as I do enjoy it. What do other invigilators do for work? Looking for ideas.

I have also seen some part time jobs in schools. Does anyone know if need to be invigilating for at least 6 months to use it as a reference? School jobs always asks for last current job as a reference and I have only been invigilating since December. Would this be a problem?

Thanks.

Actually is there a minimum time you need to be in a job to be a reference? I do not know 🤔

Anyone in school HR can help me with this question?

For working in schools you must give the headteacher of your current school as a referee. This is part of the Safer Recruitment procedures. The idea is that there is an unbroken chain of references throughout your career and any gaps are accounted for.

You also then give a second referee. You are free to pick someone from a previous job where you worked longer if you feel they know your work better or that post was more relevant to the one you are applying for. The references will be taken up before you are called to interview.

Thanks @SnowdaySewday Do I need to tell the school I am currently invigilating with that I need to put them down as a reference? I haven’t been there long so don’t know them well. I do want to keep invigilating there too
