When to hear about job application?

If a job application closes on a Friday, when is it normal to hear about whether you've got an interview or not?

If it were me shortlisting, probably the Mon or Tue - I have usually reviewed applications as they come in and have a pretty good idea by closing date.
I confirm with the Headteacher but she is usually fine with what I decide so it doesn't take long.

However, I am a science HoD so we don't get many applications 😂

If there are a lot of applications or the HoD is less experienced as so the Headteacher needs to have more input, it might take longer.

Our academy wouldn't send out shortlisting over a school holiday so we would have been told on the Friday or not until school is back open

The schools in my area aren't on half term yet so I guess it should be this week

Was the interview date specified in the advert?

Nope. Just down as "To be confirmed"

I am a HT so I co-ordinate recruitment for senior leadership positions, middle leaders and any management support roles in the school.

I review applications as and when they come in and usually contact 1-2 working days after the deadline - I never arrange interviews until the deadline has passed as there could be more suitable applicants that apply. I’d say if you haven’t heard by the Wednesday of the following week then I would follow up.

Commenting on what someone else has posted - for teaching roles, Deputies/Assistant Heads usually support the HoDs with recruitment for teaching staff; I rarely get involved. Different in every school though.
