Expecting too much?

Am I expecting too much from my teaching job?

I spend a considerable amount of time thinking of my lessons only for students to talk through them. Yes. I do warn. They don’t care

I want feedback from my HOF but he seems too worn out

I expect support from SLT

I just want an interesting and rewarding day at work. Feeling quite fed up at firefighting etc

What's the next step after a warning? Do you follow through with it?

mineisacuppa · 04/12/2024 19:19

warn x 3 = detention.

And they go to those?

mineisacuppa · 04/12/2024 19:24

Yes?

That's a start.

What do you want your HOF and SLT to do? Deal with their behaviour? Support you in your teaching?

I feel the same... continual firefighting takes up most of my time and it's disheartening. I follow the behaviour policy (warning, negative points, detentions etc.) but a lot of the kids just don't care and don't attend detentions.
SLT always throwing new initiatives that they want us to use in our lessons but I rarely have time or capacity to do these because of the time consumed simply by trying to manage the kids.

Have you asked for TA support? I think it is needed. What’s the SEN ratio like?
