Time off to attend an interview

I work part-time as a teacher and my contract is a temp 7 day notice period (mat cover).
I've applied for a permanent role at another school but interview date is on one of my working days.
Should I be called for interview will my current school have to grant me time off to attend? I accept it will be unpaid.

You would need to request the time off and they are not obliged to authorise this. That said though, as you are temp - they probably would accommodate it…. As a HT myself - I always accommodate colleague requests for interviews.
