Statutory parental leave

Hi, I am thinking of requesting a week of statutory unpaid parental leave for family reasons but you know what it's like as a teacher... Has anybody done this? Wil I need to justify the reasons in detail? Thanks

I worked with someone who requested a week of unpaid parental leave to go on a 'cheaper' holiday to Florida. She went but it caused ructions.
I suppose it depends on your reasons but I don't even think you have to say why you want it.
