Advice for a Teaching Assistant?

I'm studying Primary Education and I just started as a TA and I'm a little overwhelmed.
I'm fine with the kids, in terms of building relationships and helping them with lessons. I'm getting on really well with them.

I just feel a little out of place with the staff because I'm new here.
The teacher I'm with at the moment doesn't seem to want to talk to me much and I feel a bit awkward with him.

Is there anything extra I can do to let him know I want to help? Any general tips and dos/don'ts?

Thanks in advance :)

Are you working in primary or secondary?

When you get to work if it's before the children have arrive ask him if there's anything he needs you to do, photocopying etc. check he's got a drink.

And before you go home check again there's nothing that needs doing. If he looks like he's heading to the photocopier suggest you go instead.

I'm sure others will be along with different ideas.
