Hello,

I worked for 2 hours in a school kitchen and started in June. A position come up in the same school
for a pupil support assistant which I was offered at the end of the school year. I had to do an occupational health assessment which I put I was on anti depressants for post natel depression.

i have now got to have a telephone assessment regarding this which is after the start date for my new role. I have tried to contact the school to ask if I will still be allowed to start as it is down to there discretion.

could having post natel depression be held against me especially working in a school? I am in the process of asking to be weaned off them.

many thanks

I can't give a definitive answer, but I don't think it will. I would be very angry on your behalf if it did.

Good luck!

Please don't worry!

You will be able to start as normal.

The call will be supportive, just to see if you need any additional support to help you to do your role.

You can just say 'thank you, for the moment, I am fine, really excited about my new role etc. If I did feel I needed anything in the future, I will contact you/HR'.

I had a call for my current job (secondary teacher) which was after my start date. I have generalised anxiety and also a spinal issue.
I explained that the anxiety is well controlled and I knew who to speak to in school if needs be.

They have been brilliant with my spinal condition- ensuring I have a suitable desk chair, I'm not put on PE cover and have adaptations to lunch/break duties. School were given recommendations that they needed to implement.

Been there 2 years so no issues from either condition.
