ECT alone in school with one child

My daughter is a 1st year ECT is being pressured into covering breakfast club in a very small school whilst the regular leader is off. She will be the only adult on the premises with just one child. She does not want to do this mainly because she is laying herself open to allegations ( there has been a recent case in our area where a historic abuse case was brought in similar circumstances). Can she refuse, or at least how can she protect herself? she is employed as a teacher and has no desire to do this childcare role anyway.

She's got enough on her plate! Abuse allegations aside, I've never known a teacher to cover breakfast club - it's normally TAs. She can just say no thank you.

Yes she can if it's outside of her directed time.

Of course she can refuse if it's out of her directed hours. They're probably just asking as they're desperate for someone and assume that, as an ECT, she may be keen for extra experience or money. She's allowed to say no (and doesn't even need to justify it, but could use workload as a reason if she wanted to).

Years back, I was asked as an NQT if I'd be interested in running holiday club for a few days during the school holidays. Hell no, I was shattered and needed the break! I said thanks but no thanks and they found someone else.

She can absolutely say no. It won’t be within directed time. The school should also have a lone worker policy which would likely say you shouldn’t be on your own in the building with a child. Also, is she a first aider? You have to have a first aider if there’s a child/children onsite.
